Statistician
High Holborn, Central London

Do you want to influence national and local policy on critical care?

Do you want to work with the largest high quality, clinical database of critically ill patients in the UK?

Do you want to provide statistical advice on, and have practical input into, a host of methodological and evaluative research studies in critical care?

If so, please join us at ICNARC.

ICNARC was set up in 1994, as an independent charity (registered: 1039417) to foster improvements in the organisation and practise of intensive care in the UK. Underpinning all of ICNARC's work is a national, comparative audit of patient outcome which has led to the development of a high quality, clinical database of critically ill patients (currently 1.7 million admissions to 270 critical care units). This audit is called the Case Mix Programme. ICNARC has built on this resource to establish a National Audit Programme and a registered Clinical Trials Unit (supporting a broad range of externally funded research, including randomised controlled trials, observational and methodological studies).

ICNARC requires a Statistician (£33,000 - £40,000 dependent on experience) to assist in the provision of statistical services within the Centre.

Applications are invited from candidates who have an MSc or PhD in Medical Statistics (or equivalent experience); experience in the analysis of large datasets and a good working knowledge of standard statistical software; the ability to express technical information clearly to a wide range of people through both written and verbal communication; the ability to plan actions to accomplish goals systematically, including establishing time-frames, allocating resources, and following up on details.
