Influence of polls or people's final decision when voting still seems to me a psychological rather than statistical question - making measurements changes the system?

The chart Simon Briscoe recommends (http://www.audiencenet.co.uk/votes-vs-seats/)  is statistically correct but visually "wrong" - the two bars are not the same height.  Adding the numbers finds the PR total as 650 and the FPTP as 651, so it's just rounding but shows how sensitive the eye is to visual effects.

There are, of course, too many MPs and far too many peers ;-(
