Dear all, I’m pleased to circulate details of the Archives at Night event at the National Archives, Kew, TW9 4DU.

Join us for a very special event exploring some of the personal stories of the First World War, and a unique opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes at one of the world's biggest archives. Actor Stephen McGann (Call the Midwife) hosts the evening, reading key documents aloud and speaking about his own moving journey into investigating his family's involvement in the war. Leading historian and author Richard van Emden will also speak about his research into the lives of the men who fought, and how archives provide unique insight into historical events. Refreshments will be available, along with a range of other exciting activities that should appeal to anyone with an interest in learning more about this historic conflict. We'll also be running some behind the scenes tours on a first come, first served basis. This event is part of The National Archives' First World War 100 programme.
