We’re currently reviewing our sabbatical scheme and I wondered if you could help with any of the following:

1.       Do you require sabbatical applicants to provide external references if the applicant will not be work in another institution for the period of the sabbatical leave?

2.       We allow one semester of leave which can be extended using university vacation periods, scholarly days, match funded etc. Do any of you offer flexible periods of leave and for those locally negotiated do you have any challenges of fairness of the length of sabbaticals or apparent confusion as to the length of the sabbatical from applicants?

3.       Do you provide any cost calculations in your information for sabbatical applicants to help them calculate the cost of their sabbatical leave?

4.       Do you provide a form and/or semi-structure guidelines for applicants to follow?

5.       Do you provide any pre-sabbatical training or briefing sessions for would-be applicants?

6.       If any of you are willing to share specifics of your scheme I’d be most grateful.

Many thanks

Fleur
