APOLOGIES FOR CROSS POSTING

Public Sector Group Meeting – June 19th 2015

The next meeting of the Public Sector Group will take place on Friday June 19th at the Westminster Archives Centre. A full copy of the agenda is available at http://www.irms.org.uk/groups/public-sector/meetings/779-public-sector-group-meeting-19th-june-2015.

The theme for the meeting will be “The Records Manager’s Toolbox”. We will be looking at all the different tools that a records manager might want to include in their portfolio. We are pleased to welcome Alison North as our keynote speaker. Alison, who is a founder member of the IRMS, has many years of experience in the records management field. She will be exploring how to win management and users over to records management using skills like coaching, mentoring and selling records management.

We are pleased to welcome back, Marc Barber, who is a Chartered Chemist who works for a global pharmaceutical company. Marc, who some of you may have heard speak on the paperless office, will be exploring how to sell records management to your users from a user perspective. He will aim to help records managers understand and connect to the things which drive their users.

We are delighted to announce that BoxIT are sponsoring the meeting and will be giving a sponsor presentation about their electronic system Omnidox which is a useful tool in any records manager’s toolbox.

The afternoon session will consist of a series of short presentations from records management practitioners highlighting the six most important things that they think a records manager should have in their toolbox. These might include skills, attitudes, behaviours, electronic tools or other tools available for use. At the end of the session we will look at which six tools we think are the most important and why.

The session runs from 9:30am until 3pm and includes a free sandwich lunch. There will be plenty of opportunity for networking as well as the formal sessions.
