Applications are invited for one postdoc and two PhD positions in the group
of Hans Jakob Wörner at ETH Zürich ( www.atto.ethz.ch
<http://www.atto.ethz.ch> ). This project aims at developing attosecond
transient-absorption spectroscopy of molecules at photon energies ranging up
to 500 eV (or 2.5 nm wavelength). This energy range gives access to the
K-shell absorption edges of several elements including carbon and nitrogen
which makes element-specific measurement of electronic wave packets
possible. Experiments will be carried out both on molecules in the gas phase
and on solvated molecules in liquid microjets. Presently initiated
experiments are based on 2-cycle laser pulses centered at 1.8 microns at
1kHz repetition rate and address both field-free and field-driven electronic
dynamics in gas-phase molecules. Future experiments will make use of a 50
W-average power few-cycle mid-IR laser system that is presently under
development.

Applications will be reviewed starting immediately and until the positions
are filled.
