Since its inception in 1937, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation has been a preeminent institution for the collection, preservation, and research of modern and contemporary art.

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum offers a variety of internships students of junior-year college level or recent graduates, graduate students, postgraduates, and mature professionals pursuing further experience in the arts within a host of different
departments.

The objective of the internship program is to offer practical museum training experience to individuals interested in pursuing careers in the arts and museum fields. Interns gain a general knowledge and broad understanding of how a particular department functions within the context of a major museum as well as specific skills related to a particular department's activities.

Spring cycle: October 18 (closed);
Summer cycle: January 18 (closed);
Fall cycle: May 1st;
Academic year cycle: May 1st.

Elegibilidade

Applicants may be students of junior level or above, graduates, post graduates and mature professionals pursuing a career or professional development in the arts. Rising juniors are also eligible to apply for the summer cycle prior to the start of their junior year.

International students are encouraged to apply. If you are accepted into the Internship Program, the museum is able to sponsor you with a J-1 visa for a maximum for three months. The applicants will be responsible for a service fee, a processing fee, and any additional embassy fees that may be incurred. All other costs will be met by the museum. 

All international applicants must demonstrate proficiency in spoken and written English.

Benefícios

Candidates will be eligible for stipend following successful admittance to the Internship Program. Stipends are US$1,000 for full-time, nine-week summer internships.

The Museum Culture Seminar Program forms an integral part of our internship program. The program includes field trips to sites such as auction houses, galleries, corporate collections, and other museums. Discussion with Guggenheim Museum staff from a range of departments and awareness of a range of museum-related issues is facilitated. A field trip outside New York is planned for every semester.
Attendance at all programming is required.

All interns must commit to a minimum of three months.

Requisitos

The museum offers a variety of internships in many departments. While many of their interns come from art history backgrounds, they also offer internships in fields ranging from business and finance to marketing and web design. Since the Internship Program accepts candidates from a variety of academic backgrounds, they take into account each applicant's strengths, interests and experience in his or her preferred department(s).

The museum’s legal department also offers internship to candidates who are currently or recently enrolled in Law School programs. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, to apply, please send a cover letter and resume/CV to Education Associate, Jennifer Yee (

Restrições

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum does not provide housing for interns. They do offer many resources which have been successful for past interns, and try to share as many viable housing options as possible. Details concerning housing can be discussed with the Internship Associate once you have been accepted into the program.

Applicants must provide two copies of the cover letter, resume, application form and writing sample, alongside two different references/recommendation letters to support your application (it is not required that these be sent in duplicate).
