Hi

Can anyone help me here.    For as long as I can remember and also before I took over as Exams Officer, our oral assignments have been accessed by the teachers 2 – 3 days prior to the date of their assessment.   Indeed in the AQA MFL Manual (page 10) it says that this is the case and teachers have confirmed this has been correct.  However, one of our new teachers insists they can have it from now to prepare for their assessments and I want to be absolutely certain this is the case before I release anything.

I have spoken to a friend at a neighbouring school and she also follows the same process as us – despite the window opening on 7 March – the speaking assessment material is not provided to the teachers until 2 – 3 days before the date of their assessment.  One of our previous MFL teachers was very pedantic and hot on rules and regs for MFL, and I am sure that if there was any way she could have material before the said couple of days before then she would certainly have made me aware of it, also followed this as the accepted and normal process.

I have rung AQA and was told this morning the teachers could have the material from when the window opens i.e. 7 March but as our assessments are not until 7 May, it seems an incredibly long time bearing in mind our previous, and my inherited, practice.  The person I spoke to was rather vague so can anyone cast any light on this at all so we get it right.

Thanks

Anna
