A further question: is "in usum juventutis" or any similar ascription such as "in usum juventutis scholasticae" invariably treated as an edition statement - presumably interpreting it as something like "student's edition"?

I would have thought a particular problem for those with "small Latin" (and probably "less Greek") would be case endings on names - in this case Tacito (ablative?) and turning them back into the nominative. Forms of names for Roman authors (praenomen, nomen and cognomen) might also pose a problem as regards which elements to use - although I assume AACR guidance (rule 22.9) would be followed?

As we touched upon Latin skills yesterday, for those of you who don’t know Latin very well, how do you find cataloguing something like this? Or generally speaking, how do you cope with something in a language that you don’t know very well?
