Call for papers: MobileHCI15 Workshop on Interactive Personal Displays through Mobile Projection
Conference: MobileHCI 2015: The 17th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction with Mobile Devices and Services
24.08.-27.08.2015, Copenhagen, Denmark
Conference website: http://mobilehci.acm.org/2015/
Workshop website: http://blog.hcilab.org/ipdmp15/
Description
Advances in ubiquitous technologies make it feasible to augment our surroundings with mobile projections. Drone-carried or wearable projectors are graspable. However, there is a lack of applications for such advanced and exciting technologies. Hence, we are happy to bring together researchers to explore and discuss novel mobile interactions. The Workshop will be a full day including a keynote and hands-on ideation session where the participants will “sketch” mobile projection interaction through rapid prototyping ideas using pico projectors, mobile phones, drones, and programmable light components.
We invite position papers of 2 to 4 pages in length. The paper should present research results, work in progress, experience reports or describe demos or prototypes focused on the workshop topic. Papers should clearly state the (expected) contribution, describe the goal of the work as well as cite related work. Papers undergo a double-blind review process.
Anonymized papers should be submitted by May 8th 2015 in MobileHCI 2015 in Extended Abstracts format to [log in to unmask]. If the submission size exceeds 6MB, please make it available for download. Accepted position papers will be announced at June 12th 2015.
Papers will optionally be made available on the workshop website.
All workshop participants must register for the workshop and the main conference as well. For each accepted position paper, at least one co-author must register.
Workshop Procedure
The workshop is a full day workshops scheduled to use 6 working hours, with a mid-morning break, a lunch break, and a mid-afternoon break. In the beginning, the organizers will present their work on mobile projector followed by a keynote, a Pecha Kucha, two hands-on technology sessions, and a final demo session.
Hardware (drones with displays, projector phones, and pico projectors) and software toolkits will be provided as well as support to get a hello-world application running.
