Dear Colleagues

We are in conversation with a donor regarding them giving their Archive to the British Postal Museum & Archive.

If made available on the open market the Archive would likely sell for a considerable sum of money. They wish the gift to be as follows: initially as a loan with us until their and their spouse's death after which it would be valued and set against inheritance tax.

If anyone is able to share their experience of this kind of arrangement with me it would be most appreciated. Some questions which immediately occur are will they have to change their will? Will we need to get legal advice or is there a pro forma?

Please reply off list.

Best wishes

Gavin
