The Q-Step Centre at Leeds works through the Faculty of Business, the Faculty of Education, Social Sciences and Law and the Faculty of Environment to support the development and delivery of specialist undergraduate programmes, including new courses, work placements and pathways to postgraduate study.  The Q-Step Centre at Leeds is now looking to appoint to two lectureships in Quantitative Methods, one of which will be based in the School of Sociology and Social Policy.
We invite applications from ambitious individuals who have experience of using large datasets in their research and teaching in the following areas: sociology of crime and deviance, urban sociology, youth transitions and social exclusion.
You will be able to evidence the capacity to produce and develop innovative undergraduate modules by adding quantitative elements to the current provision and by designing new modules on your substantive areas of interest with an integrated quantitative component. You will be able to evidence the capacity to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations with a quantitative methodology and produce research of international excellence that demonstrates a commitment to and are consistent with the overarching approach of the School, with particular contributions to research and teaching on policy, inequalities and/or identities using quantitative methods.  In addition, you will be expected to support other staff in developing the use of quantitative methods within their own teaching.
With a background in Sociology, Social Policy or a relevant social science discipline, you will be expected to maintain a strong research and publication record and to enhance the School’s research activities and culture. You will contribute to the public and international profile and standing of the School of Sociology and Social Policy. The appointment offers considerable potential for personal initiative and fulfillment through work within a dynamic School, but you will also be expected to engage with broader methodological initiatives across the Faculty and University and with external stakeholders where appropriate, especially with respect to quantitative analysis of crime, social change and security.
Closing date: 31st March 2015
