Hi Jo,
Functional Assessment seems to be a larger role within Occupational Therapy, rather than physio. But no reason why you cannot incorporate those skills into
OH. I organised some training for our nurses with a team who specialise in FCAs. We could never take on the full role – an in depth assessment would take the best part of a day - but there are a lot of useful skills that can be incorporated into routine case
management. It’s helped me to feel more confident when assessing fitness, and I would still refer to an OT if someone had multiple, complex issues.

Dear all
Can anyone tell me if I could train to carry out functional assessments in the workplace without being a physiotherapist?
I am looking to expand my skill set in line with our ageing population and see people with increasing frequency who would benefit
from this kind of work specific assessment.
