Hi Emma, We only take payments from an id card so yes, there is a sort of virtual purse on Pharos. In theory, when a pay fine request is issued, the unit should look up their purse to see if they have enough to pay fine; if they do, the fine amount is deducted from the card and the payment sent to Sierra. Can't get the fines api to work with this sort of setup. III are looking at it, but we have been live since September and this is something we desperately need to get working. Thanks for the info. We do take fines payments from users at the self service machine but that is using the Fines and Fees API from Innovative rather than a virtual purse. The students scan in their id card and are then told how much they have in library charges. Students can then choose to pay some or all of it off in cash or pay the full amount off using the chip and PIN machine. With our old LMS, students paid their fines on the self check units by using their ID card and connecting through to a webservice at Pharos/Emos. Has anyone done the same thing with Sierra? Having a great time trying to sort this out and would appreciate any feedback!
