On behalf of ‘Families of Choice in Poland’ research team I am pleased to announce that the report with the results of quantitative of research project is now available in English! The report entitled Families of Choice in Poland. Family Life of Non-heterosexual Persons has been prepared by Prof. Joanna Mizielińska, Marta Abramowicz, and Agata Stasińska. The report presents the results of the quantitative part the research concerning the family life of 3085 LGBT people (of whom 9% raises children) and discusses various aspects of their family practices, among others:
1. their cherished values, sense of happiness, and satisfaction with the relationship;
2. their relations with families of origin;
3. their definitions of family;
4. their wishes and strategies to formalise their relationship;
5. their everyday lives;
6. their intimate lives;
7. conflicts and violence in the relationship;
8. parenthood

It is the first time so much data concerning children raised by non-heterosexual people was collected in Poland, and probably in the whole Central and Eastern Europe.

More about the ‘Families of Choice in Poland’ project:
“Families of Choice in Poland” is the first multi-method research project on non-heterosexual families in Poland. Prof. Joanna Mizielińska from the Institute of Psychology of the Polish Academy of Sciences acts as the Principal Investigator. The project is the first so complex attempt to understand the phenomena of LGBT families in Poland. It is an in-depth study which aims at showing the diversity of intimate and familial configurations lived by non-heterosexual people in Poland. The project has been designed as a multi-stage research process of many methods (both quantitative and qualitative).
