The Faculty of Political and Social Sciences is seeking to fill the following fulltime vacancy in the Department of Sociology: Tenured academic staff in the field of Sociology of Health, Care and Welfare Job description * You will be assigned following lecturing duties in the field of Sociology of Health and Care: Sociology of Care and Welfare (Bachelor in Sociology), the ‘Sociology and Policy of Care & Welfare’ cluster (Master in Sociology and Social Work), the Master Thesis seminar (Master in Sociology), Socio-Economic Analysis of the Care Sector (Master in Social and Economic Sciences), and possibly also a research training project (Bachelor in Sociology). You will supervise Master theses in the Masters in Sociology, Social and Economic Sciences and Social Work; * You will develop research projects, preferably in the nexus of the aforementioned fields and economic sociology, with due attention to societal trends such as commodification, deinstitutionalisation …; * You are familiar with methods and techniques of social research; * You will raise and manage funding for developing a research programme in the aforementioned field, and your results should feed into your teaching; * You will publish in international academic journals and with leading scientific publishers. You will participate in domestic and foreign academic gatherings; * You can teach in English. Foreign-speaking applicants must be able to teach in Dutch within three years; * You will provide scientific services within the Department and the Faculty, in both an administrative and a supervisory role, as well as social extension services. This position will lead to an immediate permanent appointment as a senior lecturer if the performance is assessed favorably on the basis of previously fixed and publicly announced evaluation criteria. * Or a full-time position as a senior lecturer or higher, generally entailing a permanent appointment. In the case of a first appointment to the corps of academic personnel (ZAP), the university board may proceed to a temporary appointment for a period not exceeding three years.
