Very understandable - but with students demanding marks and feedback ASAP it is difficult to meet their demands [or face low NSS scores] whilst others are still doing the work; this applies to disabled and non-disabled students wanting extensions. Quite a conundrum - be great to know what most HEIs are doing Regards, John From: Discussion list for disabled students and their support staff. They propose that a reasonable adjustment in such a case would be for the student to defer that piece of work to complete in the referral/deferral period over the summer. Doesn't that look like specifically less favourable treatment on the grounds of disability unless there is a pretty powerful argument about the adverse effect on others of a few days' delay? There might be other serious disadvantages for the disabled students than simply having to wait till the summer - for example they might then have to wait until the following academic year to recover failure / miss deadlines for applying for other courses / have constraints placed on taking up placement and employment opportunities. How could it be justified even if every institution did it? Paul
