Dear CAS list,
I am introducing myself as a media artist and scholar living in San Francisco, CA. I worked on this wonderful project last year with water-wheel.net (see below)--as a Curator and Associate Editor of the e-book. Very easy platform to join and to enjoy. The Tap, video performance space online is very well-designed and easy to use for art, cultural exchange, etc.
Water-wheel is the brain child of Suzon Fuks/James Cunningham.

Please check out the first ever ebook from water-wheel.net: "Water Views: Caring and Daring about Water", the culmination of our week-long symposium on water held last year, March 2014, online. Artists, scientists, scholars, youth and activists from all over the world brought work to the web in celebration of World Water Day...we are launching the book soon, see below...you can also download a free copy of this unusual and ambitious compendium of works on water culture for *free* - see the link below...

This session will include the launch of the e-book 'Water Views: Caring and Daring', a film screening, performances, and program highlights from the Balance-Unbalance 2015 conference convenors Garth Paine and Sabine Feisst, and a presentation from Balance-Unbalance founder Ricardo Dal Farra. For the e-book launch, the editorial team and guest authors will comment on their highlights and read small excerpts.

This session will comprise 30 minutes to meet audience and crew in the chat, 30 minutes silent meditation for water introduced by singer Mahesh Vinayakram, then the second e-book launch event with interaction with online audience.

  • ABOUT THE E-BOOK:

Science, art, ecology, community and youth respond to the theme: 'Water Views: Caring and Daring.' An astonishing number and variety of entries – 125 articles & 540 pages – makes this book a rich collection of ongoing work internationally, often with a local focus, on raising awareness and responding to water issues.
450 participants, from 34 countries across 5 continents, interacted with audience ‘live’ on the Internet & in 18 physical venues or ‘nodes’, through Waterwheel, an online platform dedicated to water. The Waterwheel World Water Day Symposium, held 17-23 March 2014, also integrated youth & inter-generational dialogue with the "Voice of the Future" strand.
