This builds on previous events with organisations including: Arts Council England; Archives +, Manchester; Library of Birmingham; University of Bristol Theatre Collections; and more recently, ARLIS Committee on Art and Design Archives; and a seminar at the Institute of Historical Research.
The event will examine the challenges and opportunities of Intellectual Property Rights for creative practice and collections in the cultural sector. It’s an opportunity to explore and debate uses, misuses and new uses of rights and creativity. It’s a celebration of the collaborative approach to managing and providing access to arts archives, protecting creators whilst exploiting content. It’s a change to explore, to share your expertise, experience, skills and knowledge.
We have drawn together a range of speakers to share their own expertise and practical experiences of navigating and exploring IPR and creativity. From libraries and archives to legal professionals and creative practitioners, find out how colleagues are pushing the boundaries and managing risks. This is your chance to discuss and debate emerging practice, engage with cutting edge research and creative approaches to IPR management. There will be opportunities to consider these in the context of your own artistic and intellectual practice and expertise.
Who should attend: artists and practitioners from across all disciplines; along with archivists, students, academics and established professionals from right across the cultural sector.
