[log in to unmask]My experience is that W. Rees' book is untrustworthy in detail, but that he did have a source of some kind for what he said. Do not give up searching for his source, but it may prove not to be quite what he says. I suspect he was inclined to rely on calendars, without reading the documents themselves, leading to misinterpretation.

HAS anybody on the list any information on the mining activates of Hector Phillips the 17th century Sheriff of Cardiganshire.
I've found a little information on this person but have so far failed to locate any document relating to a licence to mine at Bannu for 21 years in 1674 which Rees refers to in his industry before the industrial revolution. failing that have William Rees notes survived?
