Dear self-reflexive researchers

The 2015 South African Educational Research Association (SAERA) conference will be held at the University of Free State at the end of October. There will be a number of new Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that will be meeting for the first time at the 2015 SAERA conference. Special Interest Groups (SIGs) will provide a forum within SAERA for the involvement of individuals drawn together by a common interest in a field of study, teaching, or research.

One of the new SIGs that was proposed at SAERA 2014 was on Self-Reflexive Methodologies (including, but not limited to, self-study of practice, autoethnography and narrative inquiry)..

We have been asked to start a process of organising a dedicated  seminar session for the Self-Reflexive Methodologies SIG for the 2015 conference. The seminar session will be two hours long with three to five papers that all respond to a chosen theme. Each paper will need a respondent, and some time for discussion. The papers will still need to be cleared with the conference committee, as they will be counted as a part of the conference. There are possibilities of using the SIG seminar as the beginnings of a process of applying for a special edition of the Journal of Education.

The submission deadlines will be 29th May for abstracts, and 30th September for full papers.

We have a list of names of those who agreed to join the Self-Reflexive Methodologies SIG at the 2014 conference, but we anticipate that there will be many more self-reflexive researchers who will be interested in joining the SIG.

To start with, we would like to confirm who is interested in contributing to the activities of the SIG. If you are interested in becoming a SIG member, please could you email me at [log in to unmask] by Monday 13 April. And please also indicate in your email whether you are willing to be part of the SIG organising committee,

Best wishes
Kathleen
