We have lack of real commitment from our ED department. They loved the idea and would like tests done asap, with minimal regulations. Lack of ownership is our biggest huddle and challenge to date. I think any POCT without realised commitment from the user side will at some point fail, unless the laboratory is prepared to 'do everything' for the users. We off a renal profile and Trop I, FBC with 5 part differential, D-Dimer, INR , as well as the usual Blood Gas and glucose testing. It is all run by the nursing staff supported by POCT and works really well. It is based in a POCT Lab on CAU which is also temperature monitored via Comark.The main object is to see who they can send home. Regards Jackie.
