I would also ask, how did they justify the clinical need in the business case ?
Or, is there no CE marked lab assay for alpha defensin in synovial fluid (or any other fluid ) ?

Following on from previous conversations about use of synovial CRP and the associated problems with measuring it, I have been informed about a POCT  cassette that measures alpha defensin in synovial fluid as a marker for infection.

 

Are any labs aware of this in use in their hospitals?

Where is the test done and by whom? Theatres or lab?

How are results recorded/ reported?
