Forgotten Histories, New Perspectives and J.M. Barrie

The Solway Centre is delighted to host two days of discussion and performance in Dumfries, with the University of Edinburgh and Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust

Friday 26th June - Saturday 27th June 2015

Scottish Children's Literature

Explore the neglected story of Scottish children's literature, from the eighteenth century to the present day. Through discussion and performance we will consider authors' perspectives as well as didactic texts, 'Scottishness' and the idea of the child, environment and culture as they are reflected in children's literature.

The Scottish Youth Theatre, as part of this event, will perform J.M. Barrie's first play, Bandalero the Bandit, for the first time since he premiered the work while a pupil at Dumfries Academy. A tour of Moat Brae, Birthplace of Peter Pan, is also included, with a closing discussion in that location
