Subject: [Job: London or Cambridge] Regional Programme Manager, Royal Society of Chemistry

Here is another opportunity to join the fabulous (and ever-expanding) Regions team at the Royal Society of Chemistry. I do the equivalent job in the North of England so I’m happy to answer any informal questions.

Sarah

We have an opportunity to manage the Royal Society of Chemistry’s presence throughout London, South East and East of England. A particular focus for activities will be supporting the education sector, communicating chemistry to the public and coordinating our presence regionally, including links to our local member activities. This role is based at either our London or Cambridge offices and requires extensive travel throughout the region including London, South East and East of England.

Over the last year, we have almost doubled the strength of our regional team in numbers as well as increasing the funding available for activities in each region. Our team of 20+ is now looking forward to making an even bigger difference to the opportunities and information available to educators, students and outreach advocates to achieve our aim of advancing the chemical sciences for the future.

Your responsibilities will focus on:

We are looking for a talented candidate who will execute the Royal Society of Chemistry’s strategy and ensure consistent implementation of activities across the region. The role is responsible for managing a network of Education Coordinators, some hosted by education institutions and others employed by the RSC. The five RSC Programme Managers work closely together to ensure that Education Coordinators have the right programmes of activity for their regions, clarity on their aims as part of the organisation and being effectively supported as part of a regionally based team.

The regional team works to extend the reach and enhance the responsiveness of the entire organisation throughout the UK and Ireland. The role involves working with specialists in other teams and departments to ensure a two-way flow of information; ensuring our key messages are communicated effectively to our various different audiences and providing market intelligence to ensure the organisation is successfully supporting chemical science education and the chemical sciences community throughout the region. The scope of the role enables the successful candidate to make a real difference locally to our members and regional communities.

Location: Cambridge or London

Salary: £34,844 - £38,716

Closing date: 23.59 on 01 March 2015
