Apologies for any cross-posting

UCL Medical School are pleased to announce that there are a couple of places available for their standalone M level modules in Teaching and Learning in Medical Education and Quality Improvement in Healthcare that start in January. Please note that these modules can also be taken as CPD at the same time.

Teaching and Learning in Medical Education uses a combination of interactive distance learning along with one face to face day of lectures and micro-teaching sessions to provide students with an up to date knowledge of teaching and learning practice in medical education. Participants will be introduced to the theoretical underpinnings of teaching and learning (drawing on medical education research and the wider educational community) in addition to covering basic teaching skills in medical education, skills for teaching in clinical settings and teaching large groups. This module can be studied as a 15 credit M level module or as CPD with participants required to interact through a virtual learning environment over the duration of the module.

The next teaching block will run from Monday 12 January to Friday 6 March 2015 with the one day face to face session on Tuesday 13 January 2015.

Quality Improvement in Health Care is an interactive distance learning module that is relevant to all health care professionals seeking to develop and improve the quality of health care provision. Drawing on a range of literature, participants will explore a range of theoretical approaches and methods of quality improvement that are pertinent to contemporary debates around quality improvement. These include: looking at the different meanings of quality in health care; critically appraising different tools for promoting quality in health care; assess the role of key stakeholders and organisations in quality improvement, and; to look at how these might be applied to their own clinical setting. This module can be studied as a 15 credit M level module or as CPD with participants required to interact through a virtual learning environment over the duration of the module.

The next teaching block will run from Monday 5 January to Friday 27 February 2015.
