CALL FOR PAPERS
Tracce di Dio nella poesia italiana: dal secondo Novecento ai giorni nostri
Signs of God in Italian Poetry: from the second half of the 20th century to the present
Society for Italian Studies (SIS) Biennial Conference
Oxford 28-30 September 2015
This panel aims to highlight the representation of God in Italian Poetry between the second half of the 20th century to the present and, more specifically, from the IIWW to the present. What it will be discussed in this panel is humanity’s “need of God”, expressed through the genre of religious poetry. We will investigate Catholic Christian religious influences in contemporary Italian poetry highlighting its various styles and developments, and taking into account its hidden messages and its historical context. Thus, we will bring into light the peculiarities of this specific poetry genre, which is fully part of the Twentieth Century’s Italian Literary tradition. Papers may include, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- Poetry works between IIWW to the present expressing the “need of God”
- Poetry works referring to Catholic Christian tradition
- Poetry works referring to traditional Christian mysticism
- Poetry and poets: dialogic relationship between “laicità” and “cristianità”
- Poets dialogs with God
- Poetry and Bible
