Social Policies & Pragmatic Tolerance is a three-week summer programme, which gives students an in-depth look at some of the social policies of the Netherlands. Subjects such as immigration, multiculturalism, drug policy, euthanasia and sex work will be addressed by various prominent guest lecturers and educational site visits. The international classroom will lend to the overall learning experience.

Applicants should be enrolled in a Bachelor’s programme or be recent graduates. Beginning Masters students may also be considered.

The course will be led and moderated by Prof. Leon Deben, a professor emeritus of Urban Sociology at the University of Amsterdam. He is a renowned expert on Amsterdam and has worked for many years with international groups of students.

He will be assisted by Tessa Dikker, an urban sociologist who is a native Amsterdammer and has worked on many projects in the city.

Tuition € 1500 includes:

· All digital reading materials

· All site visits and full day excursions

· Lunch on class days

· Welcome and Farewell dinners

· Transcript from the University of Amsterdam worth 7 ECTS

Deadline for Applications: 1 April (rolling admissions)
