Dear BACS members
With great sadness I must share with you the death of William (Bill) Dolby, formerly of Edinburgh University, last Saturday. Bill’s international reputation as an expert on Chinese theatre was established in 1976 with the publication of his groundbreaking work A History of Chinese Drama. His intellectual ability and breadth of scholarship are beyond question. For many others of us on this list, though, he was also a truly inspirational teacher, a role model of academic integrity, and a much loved and respected friend. He will be greatly missed.
