Dear colleague,

There are more than 40 dates to choose from for your statistics training in 2015!  Visit the ICH Centre for Applied Statistics Courses (CASC) website to see a list of all 15 different topics offered and all dates until July 2015. To avoid disappointment, book your place as soon as possible.

9 February: Logistic regression – 10am to 4.30pm – £125

A one-day course exploring the ins and outs of logistic regression, i.e. when appropriate, its mechanism, how to interpret and report; with brief extension to ordinal and multinomial logistic regression.

10 - 12 February:  Intro to statistics with R 10am to 4.30pm - £400

A 3-days’ course introducing the basic principles of statistics (summaries, confidence intervals, p-values, significance tests) along with an introduction to R and its applications for statistical analysis.

17 February: Intro to Survival/time-to-event data analysis 10am to 4.30pm – £125

A one day course looking into ways of analysing time-to-event data (aka survival data), including Kaplan-Meier plots and Cox-regression.

18+19 February: Regressions with R – 10am to 3.00pm – £200

This is a two half-days hands-on workshop looking at various modeling procedures in R such as linear and logistic regressions, providing delegates with all required skills to understand how to fit these models and more in R

24 February: 2x2 tables analysis – 10am to 4.30pm – £110

If you are doing many chi-square tests at work and do not really know what they actually mean, you will find this course particularly useful. Other common and interesting tests will be discussed to provide delegates with a clear view of which test to use and when if dealing with 2 by 2 tables.

26 February: ANOVA/GLMs using SPSS – 10am to 4.30pm – £150
If you have always wondered about the General Linear Model (GLM) option on SPSS and/or wanted to clarify the difference between the many types of ANOVAs, then this is the right course for you. Via a full day hands-on teaching session in a computer room, you will be able to find the answers to the above questions and more.

10 March: Intro to Reliability Validity 10am to 4.30pm – £125

This course will equip you with the knowledge of how to assess validity and reliability for various types of outcomes and study designs (measures such as Kappa, ICC and Bland-Altman limits will be extensively discussed).

11+12* March: Intro to dealing with missing data – 10am to 4.30pm – £125 (* optional £175)

A one-day course (with an optional hands-on SPSS 2nd day) introducing various (bad and good) methods of dealing with missing data with emphasis on multiple imputation.

13 March: Bayesian analysis – 10am to 4.30pm – £125

An introductory course on the alternative methodological approach of data analysis (Bayesian statistics) and its use and interpretation in research.

Please note that interested parties can only register via the UCL onlinestore (each course has to be registered separately). Expression of interest via email is not considered a registration, so please avoid this method.

We would appreciate it if you could circulate this email within your departments or other interested parties.

We look forward to seeing more of you (if you have already been at one of our courses) or meeting you for first time!
