Hi,

I'm certain that Northampton Museums have a pair. I think they may be connected with the coaching industry. But please check with them.

Thanks

Hi Andrea,

Not too sure but here’s an idea, I know Postillions had incredibly heavy and thick leather boots as satirised in this cartoon<http://www.britishmuseum.org/research/collection_online/collection_object_details/collection_image_gallery.aspx?assetId=158364&objectId=1635896&partId=1>.

Best wishes,

Claire

Good morning All,

Does anyone have any suggestions as to which profession would have worn boots like these (see attached pictures)?

They are incredibly heavy. Constructed from layers and layers of leather. The soles are many layers of leather.

They seem to have been treated but with what substance I cannot be sure.

Best wishes

Andrea
