Dear science communicators all

The BIG Event takes place 22-24 July 2015 at the John Innes Centre, Norwich
and is a three day event for individuals in the business of engaging publics
of all kinds in all sorts of ways in science, technology engineering and
maths. The delegates are those who deal with face-to-face interactions with
publics and the Event's focus is on sharing skills and experiences, swapping
ideas, making contacts, finding jobs and having some time away from your
daily work to spread your wings and think up new things. Around 180 science
communicators will be there, maybe more.

If you'd like to read more about what goes on at the conference, have a look
on BIG's website at <http://www.big.uk.com/bigevent15>
www.big.uk.com/bigevent15

If you're thinking of coming along this year and you want to reap the full
rewards, make sure you're an active participant. Delegate feedback over the
years tells us that people who find the contacts they need, hear about the
jobs they want to go for, get themselves some meaningful training and get
the very most for their money are those that lead, present in, facilitate,
DO the sessions. Those that jump in, get a good swim.

So, you can propose a session of your own , getting together with other
people with similar skills to present as a group or you can peruse the
sessions already put forward and step up to join in if your skills fit. Go
to <http://www.bigevent.info/> www.bigevent.info to see what's there and
what's missing that you could bring.

But do it now because the deadline for submitting session proposals closes
TOMORROW, SATURDAY 31 JANUARY at midnight.

The session site will remain open for stragglers and for those who would
like to make additions to their sessions but as the BIG Event relies hugely
on the contribution of volunteers, if you meet the deadline you're doing the
right thing.

If you still just want to put a toe in to the BIG Event and not go for the
full swim, that's good too. Take a look on the session site as it fills up
at www.bigevent.info <http://www.bigevent.info> and see if the water's
fine.
