Hi All,

I have been requesting accessible PDFs directly from the publishers since I have been in post from 2011. This is the email template I normally use:

‘The University of Bradford Library has had a request for an accessible electronic file of the following book:

Course:

Start and end dates of course:

Title:

Edition:

Authors:

ISBN:

(Catalogue record: )

The University Library currently holds three print copies, as per catalogue record above. A PDF of this book for this particular student would be very much appreciated. It is essential reading for her course this semester.’

The wording at the end varies, of course. I have contacted several different publishers, and have mostly found them always very helpful. However, some already have online forms which we just have to fill in (Elsevier) or documents made available on their websites which we need to fill in, sign, scan and email to them. The procedures do vary very much, but at least most publishers have one in place nowadays.

My experience with Load2Learn hasn’t been great so far, but I have only tried using it once.

Best wishes,

Maria
