Hi Tracy,
We have a couple of sole traders in the area who sub-contract for larger units, so it’s not unusual for them to request an HER search for a DBA which eventually comes back to us with someone else’s logo on it
(but their name as primary author). I invoice them for the search, and I assume they pass the cost on to the subcontracting unit as part of their expenses. As long as the search fee is paid, it’s not really our place to interfere.
I would EXPECT the subcontracting unit to give them author credit though, so I’d be suspicious if they did not – it’s bad manners, apart from anything else!

Subject: HER searches by one organisation; use of data by another
HI all,
Has anyone come across a situation where one individual / small contractor has requested a HER search and then it appears the HER data has been used in another companies report (but possibly written by the same individual who requested
the original HER search)?
If so, what (if any) action did you take?
I am currently disregarding the fact the original search was undertaken in July 2012 and the report written in Aug 2013, and only now submitted as part of an outline application (without any update)!
Thanks in advance
Tracy
