GIS ANALYST - Competitive Salary

The Coal Authority is working to resolve the impacts of current and past mining activities in Britain. Our team provides expert advice and creative solutions to manage public safety and environmental issues associated with coal and metal mining.  

The Coal Authority is recognised for its innovative use of GIS, winning AGI and industry awards. Our geospatial data is core to the Authority operational activities, mapping and modelling both underground and over ground features for the UK.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our in-house ICT team to help the Authority achieve its ambitious plans. We are looking for an experienced GIS specialist to lead, develop and deliver our GIS applications and digital services, identifying new opportunities and leading projects for new GIS solutions for both internal and external use.

As part of the ICT team you will be an integral to the development of new business applications and services. You will be experienced in working closely with business users at all levels and possess strong analytical and communication skills. In this role you will benefit from our significant and on-going investment programme, which ensures the use of the latest GIS tools and technology including 3D, mobile and web technology.

The right candidate will need to demonstrate strong technical background, a desire to be challenged and willingness to contribute towards the success and growth of the Authority. You will be experienced in developing GIS applications using the latest ESRI technology and will demonstrate excellent analysis and development skills. Exposure to other geospatial technologies will be an advantage.
