In his address to the Cuban National Assembly of Popular Power
on December 20, 2014, Cuban President Raúl Castro explained the Cuban
position with respect to the initial steps taken toward the
normalization of relations with the United States. A translation of
his address can be found at:
http://www.globallearning-cuba.com/address-to-national-assembly-december-20-2014.html.

Raúl applauds the initial steps take by President Obama, but he
maintains that no one should think that Cuba will surrender its
sovereignty in order to attain the normalization of relations with the
United States. And he affirms that Cuba continues to insist that the
economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba be brought to
an end.
