Cardiff School of Planning and Geography is a major international centre for research in human geography and planning. The school currently have a total of  6 ESRC PhD studentships funded through the Wales Doctoral Training Centre through the Environmental Planning pathway to start in the 2015/6 academic year (October 2015).


Three of the studentships are available on a +3 basis and assumes that the applicant will already have had training from a MSc degree:


1. 'Low-carbon planning and management: the case of Brecon Beacons National Park' supervised by Dr Oleg Golubchikov (CPLAN) and Dr Abid Mehmood (PLACE).

2. 'Where the Wild Things Are: Living with Governing Wild Boar' supervised by Dr Gareth Enticott (CPLAN).

3. 'What space for place in Wales? Bridging risk perceptions and policy priorities in the spatial governance of climate adaptation' supervised by Dr Andrew Kythreotis (CPLAN) and Dr Lorraine Whitmarsh (PSYCH).

The remaining three studentships are on a 1+3 basis and can be based on any topic related to environmental planning, human geography and cognate disciplines as long as the research connects with the priority research themes of the school's research groups, which are:

 

- Environment, Society and Space

- Spatial Analysis

- Spatial Planning and City Environments

- Urban and Regional Governance
