Research Assistant/Lab Manager/Staff Scientist in cryo-electron microscopy

The Cleveland Center for Membrane and Structural Biology (CCMSB) at Case Western Reserve University is seeking a Research Assistant/Lab Manager/Staff Scientist to manage a cryo-electron microscopy laboratory. The cryoEM manager will work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative research environment using state-of-the-art electron microscopes and ancillary equipment for sample preparation. The candidate will oversee instrumentation within the facility, train new users, and assist in the development of the research collaborations.
Job responsibilities comprise all aspects of transmission electron microscopy and include specimen preparation, data collection, and computational image processing. The candidate should have a Bachelors or PhD degree in physics, engineering, the life sciences or equivalent. Excellent communication skills and ability to work with other researchers and graduate students are important. Experience in data acquisition for single particle microscopy, tomography, automatic data collection, conventional use of a wide variety of TEM’s, and the training and supervision of users is a definite plus. The candidate is expected to participate in ongoing research projects. Annual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
