Since taking over duties this winter as Ogdensburg’s historian, Ms. Madlin
has embarked on an aggressive campaign to use podcasts, blogs and uploaded
video segments to inform people about the community’s rich heritage, dating
back to its earliest settlement in 1749.

Most recently, she has also begun exploring how to place matrix barcodes —
also known as QR codes — at selected historic sites in the city so visitors
will able to someday scan the code with their smartphones and watch a short
video clip highlighting that location’s history.

"The problems of our economy have occurred not as an outgrowth of
laissez-faire, unbridled competition.

umbrella of federal regulations."
Senator Ted Kennedy, in defending trucking deregulation in 1978.
