Not to put a spanner in the works but the initiative sounds like a positive action measure, and following on from what Jeannette
has said perhaps the first issue to consider before even how you describe the group is whether it would be lawful under the Equality Act 2010.

Interesting discussion...
Is it 60+ because of the type of activities as in reduced impact etc? If this is the case, is it better to describe as more gentle which would include those who might like to go because of
low fitness levels or disability but the age limit puts them off... Or is it price reduction because of retirement? Could they be advertised as U3A type activities which include all those who are no longer in full time employment, so from around 50+?
Personally I think senior is nicer than other descriptions including pensioner. Whatever word is used to describe it will probably have some sort of negative connotation - unfortunately that
is the way with these things, a 'more appropriate' word is used which then becomes the word with its own baggage and needs to be replaced!
Good luck!

Hi Alison
Maybe a ‘Ronseal’ approach to advertising and just refer to as “60+” activities?

Happy New Year to you all.
Our sports centre is currently advertising a range of activities, and has badged some ‘senior’ with a guideline of 60+ yrs, and I wondered if anyone had any suitable alternatives to this use of the word ‘seniors’
Many thanks
