Hello, While writing the case studies I proposed a couple of weeks ago, it came clear some concepts needed explaining separately. These are concepts I've been using for some time because they address contradictions or irregularities in design theory, or they seem to better explain design activity. Mostly they are the result of my research, some of which is posted in peer reviewed journals. For others, their publication has been outside the journal arena although most of the publications have been peer-reviewed. Where not peer-reviewed, concepts are typically widely used in other fields, and my main role has been to arbitrage them into the design theory discourse. I'll post the concepts as essays. The first is on 'Design outputs and design outcomes'. It applies the standard conventions of social program logic modelling to design theory, For those who might be interested, the essay can be found at http://www.love.com.au/index.php/25-design-outputs-and-design-outcomes Mike Zender has asked that discussion of any of my papers not yet published in peer-reviewed journals not occur on the phd-design list. For those who are interested and wish to provide comment and feedback please email me offlist. Ken has claimed several times on and offlist that my design theories and analyses are that of a crank. As a sometime engineering designer, I'll accept that as a compliment. For those who wish to make up their own minds either way, the upcoming design concept essays and pre-prints of most of my other publications are available at www.love.com.au <http://www.love.com.au> Best wishes for the New Year, Terry the Crank --- Dr Terence Love PhD(UWA), BA(Hons) Engin.
