On 11th February 2015 ALISS (Association of Librarians and Information Professionals in the Social Sciences) will be holding a half-day conference on supporting practitioners in health and social care. This cross sector event aims to offer guidance on the information needs of social and health care professionals and practical tips on the design and targeting of services to this community .It will include an introduction to the skills needed to deliver specialist information training in systematic review searching and an opportunity to network and share ideas with other information professionals.

 

Presenters will include:

 

·         Sue Jardine, Information Specialist, SCIE on the information needs of health and social care professionals

 

·         Jo Wood, Cafcass – This talk will look at the development of the Cafcass Library Service since its inception in 2009, exploring the pros and cons of building an information service from scratch, marketing the library to a multi-site organization and future developments.

 

 

·         Margaret Anderson, Trials Search Coordinator, Searching systematically: supporting authors of Cochrane reviews.  The talk will outline how Margaret, as a Trials Search Coordinator, supports authors. It will also raise awareness about the expectations around conducting and recording searches for Cochrane reviews and for other information specialists who authors might enlist to run their searches.
