A spot has opened up at the FREE First World War Engagement and Interpretation workshop at The Black Watch Castle and Museum this Friday, 12 December.

12 December 2014, 9:45-4:30
Free to attend, lunch included, £25 per person travel bursary available

Thanks to Skills Development Funding from Museums Galleries Scotland we are thrilled to be hosting this training, delivered by Dr Anna Farthing (Harvest Heritage Arts and Media) and Emily Capstick (Peoplescape Theatre).
Join us to share a variety of imaginative approaches to learning and interpretation suitable for museums, galleries, heritage sites, schools and community settings.
The programme will consider the needs of learners and visitors of all ages and diverse perspectives. There will also be plenty of opportunity to discuss the ethics of representing complex and traumatic histories such as those around the Centenary of the First World War appropriately and effectively. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Participants will leave with lots of easily implemented ideas as well as renewed confidence in approaching challenging and sensitive histories in their own settings.
Inspired by the current exhibition at IWM North, workshop sessions will be led by Dr Anna Farthing (Harvest Heritage Arts and Media) and Emily Capstick (Peoplescape Theatre).
Emily and Anna will introduce participants to a range of tried and trusted participatory techniques that have all been developed with heritage partners over many years. Approaches will include creative writing, music, movement, choral speaking, multi-sensory Labyrintheme work, object manipulation, projection and performance.
