bacterioferritin in the I422 space group, like 1JGC, has a trimer in the asymmetric unit, but the biological unit is 24-mer!  Looking at it another way, considering a dimer is two monomers crosslinked by a heme, the asu contains 1.5 dimers and hence 1.5 hemes!
