Hello Paul Hope you are well,

My fellow Kingston Fine art friend Mark Farid is  taking part in this brilliant and exciting psychological experiment with Documentary Director John Ingle and Curator Nimrod Vardi.

The project is called Seeing-I, it is a social-artistic experiment that questions how much of the individual is an inherent personality and how large a portion of the individual is a cultural identity. For 24 hours a day for 28 days, Mark Farid will wear a Virtual Reality Headset through which he will experience life through another person’s eyes and ears; who for this project will be known as the ‘Other’, who he has never met.

The Other is required to wear a pair of glasses that covertly capture audio and video in an 180-degree field of view.

Here is the link to the website

and facebook group

Mark will inhabit a space consisting of a bed, a toilet and shower area that will be on constant display to the audience.

(mention kickstarter)

The money raised from kick starter will go towards paying the filming crew/general crew and psychologists, food, paying for the space etc,.

For one hour, once the Input goes to sleep, Mark will be administered the care of a psychologist with special training in neuroscience, whilst still wearing the V.R. Glasses. During this time, the audience will be asked to leave.

Will Mark will begin to lose his own sense of self, and start to inhabit the reality of the Input?

The findings, whatever they may ultimately be, will be compiled into a documentary featuring discussion on what has happened from relevant academics, psychiatrists, psychologists, neuroscientists, philosophers and artists.

They launched a Kickstarter campaign on 18th November, and despite a lot of media attention such as Sky News, Fox News, London Live to Radio 5 Live and the Guardian to name a few, their Kickstarter page is not doing very well:

May I ask you to share/forward this ultra amazing art piece/ experiment with your connections in an aim to make this happen by gaining support.

They plan to open up discussions with the Arts Council and Welcome Trust (the have been dealing with Barbara Sahakian a lot, who works at the Welcome Trust, and also in a lot of contact with Neuroscientist Simon Baron-Cohen, to name a few) will be funded by the arts council if  it gains enough interest. And are now open to more commercial sponsorship just to ensure this project happens.

Please would you forward this email to the C.A.S mailing list to get the word out.
