Hi Wahid,

I missed this email.
Does it needs to apply to pool nodes also ?

Thanks

Hi

A reminder that you are supposed to change your FAX monitoring if you support ATLAS.
(Apologies if you have already - I have no good way of checking…)

Thanks

Wahid

Dear colleagues,

Recently it was brought to our attention that the collection of the FAX monitoring information does not comply to the EU privacy laws.
If your FAX endpoint is in EU, in order to make it comply, we would like to ask you to change the configuration of your FAX endpoint in the following way:

a) posix or proxy sites:
change the existing monitoring lines to look like this: (you will notice that “auth" parameter is missing, collector address and port are different)

xrootd.monitor all user flush 30s window 5s fstat 60 lfn ops xfr 5 dest redir files info atlas-fax-eu-collector.cern.ch:9330
if exec xrootd
xrd.report atlas-fax-eu-collector.cern.ch:9331 every 60s all -buff -poll sync
fi

while at it, please recheck that you use the latest n2n plugin (2.0-5)

b) directly federated dCache sites
update the monitoring plugin to dcache26-plugin-xrootd-monitor-5.0.8-0.noarch.rpm (from wlcg)
change the following lines in the dcache configuration file (/etc/dcache/dcache.conf):
summary=atl-prod05.slac.stanford.edu:9931:60
detailed=atl-prod05.slac.stanford.edu:9930:60
to:
summary=atlas-fax-eu-collector.cern.ch:9331:60
detailed=atlas-fax-eu-collector.cern.ch:9330:60
vo=ATLAS

c) DPM sites
set yaim variable:

      DPM_XROOTD_DISK_MISC="xrootd.monitor all user flush 30s fstat 60 lfn ops xfr 5 window 5s dest fstat info redir atlas-fax-eu-collector.cern.ch:9330
      if exec xrootd
              xrd.report atlas-fax-eu-collector.cern.ch:9331 every 60s all -buff -poll sync
      fi"

the change means that:
1. monitoring information will stay in EU
2. monitoring information will not contain users DN

please do not forget to restart the service with the new setting, and let us know if you have any questions, problems with this change.

Best regards,
Ilija Vukotic
