Tessa,
Stupid question, but not a repository manager – how would I check for
a ‘data seal of approval’ or

We do refer to the list as a source of possibilities. We suggest however to researchers to deposit only at a repository with a ‘data seal of approval’
at least, or even more stringent an ISO standard. Not all repositories listed at Re3data.org are trusted repositories. If not a trusted repository, the terms of use and safety should be carefully examined by the researcher. The option to obtain a persistent
identifier for the data is also suggested by us as a prerequisite for selection of a repository.

Funnily enough I'm at the Jisc event at Cambridge and we were asking if someone could support such a list - maybe DCC.
I'd find it reassuring to have a list of trusted compliant data stores.

Dear RDM colleagues,
I'm currently looking at methods for providing a 'valid' list of external data repositories to my local research staff.
One of the options I'm considering is the list of repositories hosted by the re3data service:
I am interested in hearing from other organisations who are also considering the re3data register as their central reference point for data repositories, and who have plans for ensuring that repositories being used by their research staff are registered with re3data, or an equivalent register.
Regards, Ben.
