MPs ordered their expenses to be shredded after just three years to prevent any “smoking guns” from coming to light, a whistleblower has claimed.
Paul Gibbons, a records management consultant, has revealed he helped draw up a controversial records policy that ordered all expenses paperwork to be destroyed after just three years.
Mr Gibbons said the normal practice would be to keep the records for six
years, but the House of Commons Commission “went out of their way” to reduce
this.
