Breaking the Mould

This free course is provided by the Welsh Government and is open to staff and volunteers working in museums, archives and libraries in Wales. It is suitable for staff dealing with mould in their collections from inappropriate environmental storage or an
outbreak as part of a water leak or flood scenario.
Aim
To introduce participants to mould management and mitigation, exploring in a safe environment, a suitable approach to dealing with an outbreak.
Expected learning outcomes
- Have a basic knowledge of mould and how it grows
- Able to identify Mould (inactive and active)
- Know the effects of Mould on different materials
- Develop management strategies for dealing with mould
- Know what PPE to use when dealing with mould
- Know fungicidal and fungistatic techniques for dealing with mould
- Knowledge of UK Health and Safety guidelines associated with mould as a respiratory sensitizer
- Know where to go for help
