Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre Norwegian Review Council Country Overview: Bosnia and Herzegovina: Ethno-political agendas still prolonging displacement Read the report: http://www.internal-displacement.org/europe-the-caucasus-and-central-asia/bosnia-and-herzegovina/2014/bosnia-and-herzegovina-ethno-political-agendas-still-prolonging-displacement?utm_source=IDMC+Subscribers&utm_campaign=890e3e2b11-20141119_BiH_Overview&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_a36ca61009-890e3e2b11-418577169 Dear colleague, Nineteen years ago, the Dayton Peace Accords ended the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Despite the time that has passed, internal displacement has not been fully resolved, as our overview of internal displacement in BiH outlines. This report discusses protection issues that IDPs and returnees continue to struggle with and the national and international response to these issues. It also considers the situation of people who were displaced as a result of the May 2014 floods and landslides, the worst on record for the past century. IDMC considers that progress towards durable solutions to displacement in BiH still requires resolution of outstanding housing, land and property issues, elimination of segregated education, improved access to livelihoods, more effective remedies for human rights violations suffered during the war and increased efforts of politicians to promote reconciliation. We welcome any comments on this report and hope you find it useful.
